Activity: Sew your own Watermelon felt toy and grey and purple mice, just like the characters in this book! Rein-act this story with your family with your toys.

Magic Beach by Alison Lester
Enjoy listening to this read aloud by the Author, in the actual โmagic beachโ that inspired this book!
Activity: Collect some sand from you favorite beach, or back yard sand box, and place it inside a small jar. Write a poem about this sand, and image it's from a magic beach.

Spin the globe and find a country with beaches, and learn about it!

Children of the Forest by Elsa Beskow
Activity: Write your own story about tiny little people in your own backyard. What do they do? Where do they live? Be inspired by this lovely book. Pair this and the next page up with our Sweden Adventures.

Pair this with our Sweden Adventures: Color the map of Scandinavia, find Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Research more about Elsa Besklow, Swedish author/illustrator of the book we are reading today. Write about her in your journal.

Peter in Blueberry Land by Elsa Beskow
Activity: We are learning a Swedish Proverb today, and reading a lovely book by a Swedish Author and Illustrator. In what ways do you think Peter was trying to show love to his mother in this story? Who helped Peter while he was in the forest? Draw pictures about summer berries such as blueberries.
