Artist Spotlight: Georgia O'Keeffe in our Life Cycle of a Pineapple Life Cycle Study:

Georgia O'Keeffe was born November 15, 1887 and grew up on a farm near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Learn more about Wisconsin with our Wisconsin Adventure Unit Study. Her abstract paintings where first exhibited in New York City in 1916.

She traveled to Hawaii in 1939 to paint the pineapple for Dole, the pineapple company. She toured many of the Islands and painted lots of other beautiful things she saw there, before she finally painted the pineapple. Learn more about Hawaii with our Hawaiian Adventures.

Georgia O’Keeffe died in Santa Fe on March 6, 1986, at the age of 98. As an artist of national standing, Georgia O’Keeffe has been well known in America for many decades.
