How to make Hair and a Simple Skirt for a Rag Doll

Cook: Scottish Macaroons

This recipe and the recipe from chapter 8 can be seen made during this time of year in Scotland. Enjoy watching this video to learn the steps to make it, using our similar recipe included in this unit study.

EXTRA RECIPES:

Find below some video links about the recipes and dishes mentioned in this chapter, that the Cook and family were preparing for their Scottish Hogmanay Celebrations.

Sheep Head Soup, cooked outdoors:

Pigeon Pie, the Victorian Way, perhaps was very similar to how they would make it in Scotland.

Rabbit Pudding, they mention that Rabbit was served, and this recipe would be something they would make.

They talk about Bread being served with the homemade butter, but only in this last chapter. Every other chapter they talk about Oat cakes, or Barley cakes. Learn about bread making in England and the Americas in the 1700s in the very good video from Town Sends, below, and making butter here, as well as in our Adventures in Ireland Unit Series.
