Art Appreciation includes the painting “The Winding Dee” by Joseph Farquharson, 1889, Realism, showing the River Dee, in Aberdeenshire. This river reminds me of the where Martha’s family may have gotten their food, such as salmon, fish and more. Did you know that they hold ceremonies for the salmon fishing from this river every year?
We feature more art by Joseph Farquharson in this study, so I wanted to include a video to share more about him! He was a Victorian Scottish Landscape Painter and Laird, loved by many. Stay tuned for chapter 5 for his sheep paintings featured.
Cook:
An additional recipe that you may like to try, which are from ABERDEEN, called BUTTERIES. They would go so well with tea, clotted cream, jam (find those recipes in our England Adventures) as well as the soup. The video I am including also includes two other recipes from Aberdeen, which you may also like to give a try!
