ART PROJECT IDEAS:

We have tutorials in our lesson plan for making clay coral sculptures. Here are some videos for inspiration. My hope with these videos is that they give you some ideas on how to adapt this art project for different age groups and abilities. In the end, follow the lead of your child, and always allow them to experiment and play with the clay before making anything specific. This is meant to be a fun, creative time and your student may or may not create what you are imagining, as they are their own unique artist. :) Have fun!

ADDITIONAL IDEAS TO LEVEL THIS PROJECT UP:

This next clay coral project idea was a little strange to me at first, and is definitely for older students or adults. You could switch the “old broken item” with something that isn’t broken. But in the end, this video has some neat coral clay building techniques. Give it a watch, and disregard the glass breaking at the beginning. You could switch it up with a toy or something that got lost in the ocean, and have your student write a story about it.

Lesson 4: Seafarers & the Tropics

educational videos. Because this is a special day to celebrate all those who have sailed the seas, I wanted to include a range of videos about seafarers of the world, through history. You can pick one or a few to dive into, it’s up to you.

What is it like to be a Seafarer in this day in age?

I found this history of Hawaii, Britain/Canada and the USA….
