When Pigasso Met Mootisse by Nina Laden - Optional: Read this book and pair up with Adventures in France Week 4, all about Henri Matisse. Dive deeper into the art comparisons between these two amazing artists who lived in France at the same time.

Next Stop: Pablo Picasso & Abstract Art
This week we will learn about one of the Modern Masters, Pablo Picasso, who lived in France and painted some of the most amazing abstract works of art in the world. We will learn about the new style of art he created, called Cubism, and create our own Cubist self-portraits. We will also create art inspired by the blue things found in nature while learning about his "Blue Period”, plus the many works of “A Girl with a Pony Tail” and make Abstract French Meringues inspired by the style of the art he made.

We have included many wonderful children's books about Picasso for you to enjoy this week, plus an additional lesson, project and recipe all about an artist who is also inspired by Picasso! Color in France and Spain on your Europe map today, as Picasso lived in both countries.
