Next Stop: Pablo Picasso & Abstract Art

This week we will learn about one of the Modern Masters, Pablo Picasso, who lived in France and painted some of the most amazing abstract works of art in the world. We will learn about the new style of art he created, called Cubism, and create our own Cubist self-portraits. We will also create art inspired by the blue things found in nature while learning about his "Blue Period”, plus the many works of “A Girl with a Pony Tail” and make Abstract French Meringues  inspired by the style of the art he made.

Educational Videos About Picasso

These videos have been found online, watched and vetted by our curriculum creation team. Use them for inspiration with your teaching, and learning all about Picasso, along with our Art Projects and tutorials included in this week’s Adventure.

I loved these videos of Picasso painting pictures on glass. This would also make a wonderful extension activity.

He also did this type of artwork with light, “ Writing with Light” or “ Light Graffiti”
