Chapter 9: Wayfarers All
Today we are reading chapter 9 in the “Wind in the Willows”, called Wayfarers All and in this chapter, we see Rat, who meets Sea Rat, a Rat like himself, but very different. He learned about a life full adventure and travel. In this chapter we see Rat become sad, and he reflects upon his life and wonders if he to could go and travel like the Sea Rat. Mole helps him see the good in his life and in the river bank and encourages him to write poetry. In our Artwork today, while we finish our colorful village, let’s think about our village… is it on a river bank, or is near the sea?
Discussion Ideas:
The Sea Rat had many stories to tell of Kings and Queens and ships on the ocean, and they were really exciting to hear. Enjoy the optional books and art appreciation about Kings, Queens and Knights that you can read during this chapter . What was your favorite part, and did it inspire you to tell a story of your own? Rat's friend Mole helped him come to terms with staying at home, and finding the joys in what he has. How can you find ways to be content and happy with your home? What is your favorite thing about your home and place you live?
