Lesson 3: Maisie’s Sheep & Lighthouses

Let's learn about Sheep and Ireland through a special children’s book I love, called “Maisie McGillicuddy’s Sheep Got Muddy" by Kelly Grettler. It is about a little girl and her lost sheep named Shamrock, and their travels around the Emerald Isle. Did you know that they mark their sheep with colors like this? It helps the farmers find them. We are also including a section on lighthouses, which is also mentioned in the book. Let’s create our own art inspired by her story and book! Enjoy a nice selection of Art with Sheep and lighthouses in a range of art styles from Monet, Robert S. Duncanson, Vincent van Gogh, and Camille Pissarro and others. Pair this lesson with our Adventures in Ireland 1-3, and the lesson in Adventure 3 all about Sheep!

What color marking do they have? Will you choose a speficia location in Ireland for your artwork? (find inspiration on the back of the book for a list of locations in Ireland that Maisie visited. Look up more details on it if you'd like)
